Diagrammatic and Graphic Representation Numerical Solutions

Diagrammatic and Graphic Representation Numerical Solutions

Here we are going to solve some numerical problems in Diagrammatic and Graphic Representation:

Qns1) Draw the pie chart from following data related to the monthly expenditure of  two  families

Solution:
Total Expenditure of Family A : Rs (4000+3000+5000+2000+6000)
                                                                        Rs. 20000
For pie chart we need to convert this value into degree.
                    So , Rs. 20000 = 360°
                      Rs. 1 = 360°/20000
                               =0.018°
Then ,

Now , Similarly for Family B :
           Total expenditure : 3000 + 1000 + 2000 + 2000 + 2000 = Rs. 10000
            Here Rs. 10000 = 360°
               Rs. 1 = 360°/10000
                        = 0.036°
Then,

Pie chart of monthly expenditure for family B

Qns 2) Prepare the Histogram and frequency Polygon from following data.

Solution:
In this distribution class interval is same (i.e 5) except for 4th class interval (i.e 10). Hence frequency at this interval can be adjusted by dividing by 2.
                i.e. 40/2= 20

Frequency polygon is obtained by joining midpoint of upper side of adjacent rectangles of histogram by means of straight lines .

Qns 3)From the following distribution Construct an ogive and find the number of person having income between Rs. 20000 and Rs. 50000 from ogive curve.

Solution:
First construct either less than or more than ogive table.
Here we are going to construct less than table:

Hint: less than 10 is 5
         less than 20 is 10+5=15
less than 30 is 15+18=33  and so on.....
Now with these value we construct less than Ogive curve:

Less than ogive

Here Clearly The total no of person having income between Rs. 20000 and Rs.50000
is = 63 - 15
    = 48

Qns 4) Draw the ogive curve and locate the value of median from following data

Find the no. of employees having wages between Rs. 63000 and Rs. 75000.
 Solution:
Here we have to locate the median value , so we need plot both less than ogive and         more than ogive .
Here in qns more than cf is given . From that we calculate less than c.f first.

( Hint: less than 60 = 65-57 =8
            less than 70 = 65-47= 18
            less than 80 = 65-31= 34 and so on...)

Now plotting the ogive curve:

Here the value of the median is indicated by point of intersection between these ogive lines.
So, value of median from graph is 74.

from graph no . of person earning less than 63000 is 22 (approx.)
no. of person earning less than 75000 is 39 (approx.)
hence, total no of person earning between Rs. 63000 and 75000 is = 39 - 22
                                                                                                                        = 17
